Business first.

Engineer at heart.

I lead technology organizations where business comes first and technical depth is what makes execution real. 9+ years as CIO across three industries, reporting to CEO. Building teams with industry-lowest turnover, shipping transformation that moves P&L, equally comfortable in the boardroom and in the stack.

Who I am

Manu Delgado Nieto, CIO, Madrid

An executive who thinks business, builds like an engineer.

I lead technology organizations where technology is a strategic lever of the business, not a back-office. My starting point is always the business problem: P&L, customer experience, operational efficiency, competitive advantage. The stack is the means, not the point.

That said, I'm not a management-only CIO. My background is Computer Science at UPM and I've never let the technical depth rust. When a critical issue hits production at 2am, I know what the telemetry is telling us. When a vendor oversells, I can tell. When the team debates Kubernetes, databases or a genAI architecture, I'm in the room as a peer.

That dual fluency, boardroom and stack, is what my track record is built on: three industries (mobility, media, retail), scale from 300 to 4,000+ payroll employees, teams with the lowest turnover and highest eNPS in their companies, and transformation projects that actually shipped and moved numbers.

Experience

Three industries. Eighteen years. Real outcomes.

My other half

Engineer at heart.

I keep enough technical depth to challenge architectures, vendors and technology decisions. This is not developer nostalgia: it is what lets me tell a solid proposal from a well-sold one, commit to a timeline that holds, and know when the team is right and I am not.

I keep it sharp two ways: by telling it on stages and in the media, and by building product of my own that reaches real users.

Side products

The lab where I keep my judgement sharp.

Two products in production I use to test first-hand what I later have to assess in the boardroom: architectures, vendors, ways of working. Plus a way of building them that is the experiment itself, a network of AI agents covering the whole cycle. Here wrong calls cost something, which is what makes them useful.

How I build them

A network of agents, not a copilot.

Both products are held together by specialised AI agents covering the whole cycle. This is not code completion: it is a chain where each agent owns a job, hands over to another and answers for its own work. Running it looks a lot like running a team, and that is exactly the point.

DevelopmentOne agent per language and environment. Each writes its code and the tests for it.
E2E testingAgents walking the full flows, independent from whoever wrote the code.
DocumentationThey keep technical docs and architecture decisions current.
CoordinationAgents propagating changes between the web and app projects so they never drift apart.
DesignThey apply the design system and check new screens stay inside it.
MonitoringThey read production errors, group them and open issues with context.
ResolutionThey pick those issues up, propose the fix and leave it ready for review.
